At this point, there's no reason why cars should be permitted on Main Street at all. It would be great to make it something like Denver's 16th Street Mall or Minneapolis's Nicollet Mall.

The HAWK beacons here and elsewhere around town are great; keep installing them please!

During the morning commute, traffic northbound (including the popular 21 bus route) on 2100 E can stack up at this light for upwards of 15 minutes, while there are no queues of note on Foothill. Increasing the green time for 2100 E, or reducing the time for the light to cycle would fix this.

There is no reason to have three eastbound car lanes on 2100 S between 1300 E and 1700 E. Currently, bikes that want to go through the area are routed through Parley's Trail along I-80, which is a substantial detour out of the way. Converting this extra lane into a two-way cycle track would

If both a car and a bike are present and both choose to go straight, the intersection requires them to cross over (for the bike to end up on the right side of the road) due to bike lane placement on the left of the right/straight shared lane.

The light duration to cross Foothill (heading east) is about 30 seconds too short for most (but not all) people on bikes to make it across the intersection before the light starts to sequence to yellow.
Bonus Praise: Having bike detection is good!

The intersection of Mario Capecchi Drive and Wasatch drive is one of the worst intersections I've ever seen. First, the signal timing is terrible during the evening commute, with buses and cars stacking up on southbound Capecchi for multiple light cycles (it's not unusual to wait nearly

Biking out to N Temple frontage road and on towards the GSL would be a great ride, but the airport is a huge obstacle. A bike path south of 80 and out of the industrial zone, would be an excellent connecting route.

Comment on Bike lane ends by

I ride this 2-3 times per week and would completely agree.
There is also a pain point where busses and traffic are making the right and bikes are trying stay to the left towards the round-about.

Guardsman Way is a great (and pretty much the only) route to the University campus for bikes from the south. However, when it crosses 500 S, the bike lane abruptly ends at the same time car traffic increases substantially. Combined with the uphill, this leads to a stressful situation for bikes.

Comment on Lower speed limit by
Agreed. But I think a better plan would be to simply knock out one of the car lanes in each direction, converting the space into a wide multi-use path. This road is never busy enough to require three lanes in each direction.

The traffic volumes on Sunnyside Avenue east of Arapeen do not warrant two lanes in each direction; one lane would easily suffice. As a VERY popular running and cycling route, it would be nice if one lane in each direction was removed, implementing a wide multi-use path (continuation of 9-line

Either a full signalized intersection or a HAWK beacon would be nice to connect the 600 S bikeway to G Street. The current stop-controlled crossing of South Temple is stress-inducing, to say the least.

Although it's not a high traffic area, it would move cars off of mainstreet quicker rand allow for other cars to reach the right hand turn from a single-lane street.

Much like the new 9th south roundabout (which is awesome and works well) the 5-way intersection at this location has two busier cross streets and one smaller diagonal street that ends in an unusual way at the corner. A roundabout here would be awesome and help keep traffic moving through this a

My guess is that the stop sign was placed as a speed-check to get people to slow down as the drive down the hill through the neighborhood.

This seems like an odd place to have a all-way stop sign. There is almost no traffic coming from Ft. Douglas Circle so it seems inefficient to have Federal Heights Dr. traffic stop. A stop sign for Ft. Douglas traffic seems sufficient.

It would be nice to see the speed limit on Beck lowered from 50 to 30mph farther north (or perhaps gradually lowered from 50 to 40). Many cyclists use this road to commute to SLC from Davis County and while there is a bike lane, it is somewhat uncomfortable to have cars passing at 50+mph.

Much better than the stress inducing 5-way stop sign intersection
