There have been plans to do this forever. It could really change how this are works with respect to biking and walking/hiking, especially if you connect it to Spring Lake. It would be a fantastic amenity.

No. Just... no. Connect this with Saddle Mountain preserve somehow and let the headwaters of these creeks do their job. Look at Foothill Regional Park in Windsor for a model if you ever get to decide what to do with this land.

There are essentially no habitat values for this open space. Some wildflowers, but no wetlands and its so isolated and bare that nothing will make a home there. High density residential would be an excellent use for this space.

The city should work with the county to create a sidewalk on at least one side (preferably the East side) of this road. If this were done, there would be no need for an underpass for the brush creek bike path to get to Bridgewood. Just use brush creek road itself.

Although it is a statement to the domination of nature that the City has accomplished, having City Hall on top of Santa Rosa Creek is no longer in keeping with our values. Our creeks are a public good and a resource for all that should be stewarded with utmost care and with  the goal of restori

This pond is very important newt and tree frog breeding habitat. It is in dire need of exclusion fencing to prevent people and their dogs from destroying it. Some interpretive signage would, at a minimum, help people understand why it's a bad idea to trample the edges of this pond. It's

This would be a game changer for access to this park from Rincon Valley. Not only that, but it would make it much safer to get to Bennet Valley through the park as well. A pedestrian/bike lane would do.

Criticism
Horrific merge
Going West on 12 and trying to go South on 101 makes this a nightmare. The merge is too short. CalTrans needs to seriously revamp this interchange.

These ponds have had Harmful Algal Blooms in recent years. Reducing the amount of sunlight hitting the water surface would reduce the incidence of HABs. Therefore, planting more trees near the water, especially the southern bank, would be helpful.

Suggestion
Exclude ATVs
This area is habitat for the critically threatened Rincon Ridge Ceanothus. There are ATV tracks that have destroyed some of this sensitive chaparral habitat. Please put up something that blocks ATV and motorbike access to this parcel.

Praise
Leave As-Is
This area is great. I love how it's not developed/improved and is let be. I can see deer, foxes, salamanders, frogs, and all kinds of other critters that I would never be able to see if it was turned into turf.

Although this would be significant work, an underpass here for pedestrians and bikes wishing to connect to Bridgewood would save a lot of grief for users of the Brush Creek Path as well as drivers who already have a lot to pay attention to between Fountain Grove and Mission.

Turning this into a commercial center will create all kinds of traffic problems and there's already plenty of retail nearby (literally across the street). Instead turn this into high density housing or an open space/park/dog park.
